Effective Listening

By Mike Green

The information in Mike's book will help you understand and apply a variety of listening skills which will make the counseling interview more productive.

You will improve your dialogue skills by learning how to:

  • Let your counselee know that you heard him.
  • Establish trust with your counselee.
  • Understand his body language and affect.
  • Ask "open" questions.
  • Show your empathy and understanding.
  • Keep silent at the right times.
  • Use appropriate self-disclosure.
  • Provide feedback and confirmation.

Mike Green has degrees in Theology and Family Counseling. He has been a counselor to the body of Christ for more than twenty years. He and his wife Michele have been Restoring The Foundations Ministers since 1994.

Thanks, Mike and Michelle, for this tool for intentional communication. May the Babel curse be reversed in God's kingdom!
